Matsui Fights Republican ACA Repeal Efforts in Energy & Commerce Committee
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) is joining Democratic Members of the House Energy & Commerce Committee in strong opposition to Republican efforts to fast track their Affordable Care Act (ACA) Repeal bill through a full committee markup.
“This so-called plan will do nothing but ration care and drive up costs for hard working families across the country,” said Matsui in her opening statement.
Congresswoman Matsui referenced in her statement the droves of people who have filled her town halls in Sacramento and shared their stories about the ACA’s benefits.
Matsui went on to say, “Democrats are not going to stand for this plan to slash funding for long term care, substance abuse treatment, and preventive services. We will not engage in this effort to raise out-of-pocket costs for seniors, reverse the progress we have made on mental health reform, and put Medicare at risk. We are united in our determination to stop this attempt to ration care for the most vulnerable in our communities.
“There is so much on the line today for so many, and Republicans are ignoring what’s at stake.”
