Rep. Doris Matsui Announces $502,400 in Grants for California Arts Council

Today, Rep. Doris Matsui (CA-05) announced National Endowment for the Arts investments of over $500,000 for the California Council of the Arts made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that Congresswoman Matsui supported, and President Obama signed into law just eight weeks ago.

The National Endowment for the Arts, an independent agency of the federal government, has received millions in recovery funds to preserve non-profit jobs in the arts nationwide.  The California Arts Council, located in downtown Sacramento, strives to advance California through the arts and creativity with an emphasis on children and artistically underserved communities.

"The release of these funds by the National Endowment for the Arts will have the dual advantage of preserving California jobs while encouraging creativity and participation in the arts," said Congresswoman Matsui.
