Congresswoman Matsui's statement on the passing of respected member of the House, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
“I was saddened to learn of the passing of my colleague and friend, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones. My sincerest condolences go out to her son Mervyn, to all her family, and to her friends and supporters at this difficult time. “Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a groundbreaking figure. She was an inspiration to many and a tireless advocate for her constituents. I remember how highly coveted she was by the then members of the Ways and Means committee, when joining the powerful committee soon after her election. “My heart goes out to her loved ones. I know that she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Her impact will continue to be felt, not only in her Cleveland district but by the many individuals who benefited from her service.
