Rep. Doris Matsui Statement on the Passing of Rep. Tom Lantos
“I was saddened to hear of the passing of my colleague and friend, Congressman Lantos. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and loved ones.
“Tom and his wife Annette were partners in every aspect of life, and as a team worked tirelessly to better the lives of every person they met. His influence reverberated across not only our nation, but worldwide through his devotion to human rights issues.
“Today, we remember and honor Chairman Lantos. He was a true champion for human rights and a believer that out of great injustice can come great awakening.
“Congressman Lantos was a wonderful legislator, and a true advocate for the people he represented. Not only will we miss his guidance and presence here in Congress, but his constituents will miss his dedicated service. He was a shining example of what any Member of Congress could hope to be.”
