Statement of Congresswoman Matsui on the Death of Leo McCarthy

Tuesday, February 6, 2007

Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-05) issued the following statement on the death of Leo McCarthy, who served as California’s lieutenant governor, as well as Speaker of the Assembly:

“Leo McCarthy was not only the epitome of what a public servant should be, he was also a wonderful person.  During his decades of public service, Bob and I had the pleasure of working with Leo. Leo’s integrity and dedication to this state were evident in everything he did.  Leo always remembered where he came from and what he was there to do – he was always working to improve the lives of California’s families.  Leo was genuine and honest; in essence a leader our state could be proud of.  His presence will be missed. “My thoughts go out to his friends and family at this time of loss.” ###
