Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement on the Trump Administration's announced withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement:
“Withdrawing from the JCPOA does nothing to make our country safer. This decision opens the door for Iran to move towards the development of a nuclear weapon and weakens our ability to achieve the objectives we share with our allies, such as addressing Iran’s support of terrorism and human rights abuses.
“We should be focusing our efforts on ensuring Iran’s compliance with the agreement, rather than unilaterally abandoning it in a way that diminishes our capacity for global leadership and credibility.”
