Congresswoman Matsui Statement on Bipartisan Budget Agreement
Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement on the bipartisan budget agreement reached by House and Senate Leaders:
“I am pleased that Congress has reached an agreement on a bipartisan budget package that protects hardworking American families from a devastating default,” said Congresswoman Doris Matsui. “The deal marks an important step forward and includes several essential provisions that are in line with my priorities in Congress.
“I’m particularly glad to see the package reforms the federal Spectrum Relocation Fund, which is a critical piece of the spectrum agenda. The fund will provide important incentives for improving efficiency, and will advance research, development, and planning efforts. I hope that we can build on these provisions to identify new spectrum opportunities.
“Furthermore, the budget package protects seniors from dramatic cost increases by preventing a $50 per month rise in Medicare Part B premiums in 2016. And, it ensures that Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits are not subject to harmful and deep cuts. Both of these measures will safeguard against the hard earned benefits of older Americans being put at risk.
“The bipartisan budget agreement is a constructive step forward as we develop a responsible, balanced approach that prioritizes and invests in the economic security of our middle class.”
