WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-6) issued the following statement on President Trump’s State of the Union address.

“President Trump’s State of the Union address comes at a critical moment for our democracy and the future of our country. Unfortunately, tonight’s speech made clear that the President is unwilling to embrace bipartisan solutions that address our country’s most pressing issues.

Despite the President’s calls for unity, this Administration’s actions have worsened political divisions and harmed American families. From the repeated attacks on the Affordable Care Act, dangerous policies that exacerbate the climate crisis, and empty promises on infrastructure, the President has pursued partisanship over progress.

Despite the gridlock in Washington, I stand ready to work with anyone willing to seriously discuss policies that unite rather than divide us. I will continue to advance solutions that help our district and move the country forward.”
