Congresswoman Matsui Statement on NBA Board of Governors Vote to Keep the Kings in Sacramento

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement after the NBA Board of Governors voted down the relocation bid to move the Kings to Seattle, thus keeping them in Sacramento:

“The Sacramento Kings have been a staple in the region for nearly 30 years, and I am pleased that today’s Board of Governors vote rejected attempts to relocate the team to Seattle, thereby keeping them in Sacramento.  The Kings have built a very loyal fan base throughout our region.  The efforts of Mayor Johnson, as well as the dedication and support that fans and the business community have shown over the past few months has been nothing short of incredible. Since they arrived in Sacramento they have been a part of our region’s collective identity.  Sacramento is the Kings’ hometown and this is where they belong.”
