Congresswoman Matsui Statement on Shooting of Congresswoman Giffords and Others at Arizona Event
Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA), issued the following statement in the wake of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), staff, and constituents at an event in Tuscon, Arizona:
• I am shocked and saddened by the tragic shooting of my friend and colleague Gabby Giffords, members of her staff, and her constituents. This senseless and unprovoked act of violence is deeply troubling. Gabby is not only an admired colleague, but a dear friend. She is smart, courageous, disciplined, and effective. Moreover, Gabby is a dedicated public servant for the people of Arizona, and our country as a whole.
• My thoughts and prayers are with Gabby•’s family, and the families of all of the victims. We mourn for those who lost their lives, and it is my greatest hope that Gabby will make a full and swift recovery."
