ABC10: ELK GROVE MAYOR ANNOUNCES $2.2 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDS FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS
More than $2.2 million in federal funds were secured for three Elk Grove community projects, Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen recently announced.
"Thank you Congresswoman Doris Matsui for securing over $2.2 million for Elk Grove," she said. "Having strong partnerships with the federal government ensures we have a champion that is representing the needs of Elk Grove. I am grateful for the friendship and partnership."
According to Singh-Allen, the upcoming funds will benefit the following projects:
- $500,000 for the Elk Grove Bruceville Walkability Improvement Project
- The funding will be used for construction of a multi-use path and sidewalk to connect two parts of the city of Elk Grove’s master trail plan
- $715,000 for the Elk Grove Domestic Violence Intervention & Prevention Program
- Funds will go toward hiring victim advocates within the Elk Grove Police Department to serve domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse victims.
- $1 million for the Elk Grove Zero Emissions Vehicle Municipal Infrastructure Project
- The funding is part of the more than $22 million in federal funding secured for a total of 18 projects across the Sacramento region.
Sacramento's River Basin Floodplain Reactivation is the project to receive the most federal funding among 18 with $5 million set to support reactivation efforts at a landscape scale and restoring ecological function to the river basin.
