Congressional High-Tech Caucus Announces Matsui as New Co-Chair
Joins Rep. McCaul to Lead on Critical Innovation Issues Facing American Economy
Today, Representatives Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Doris Matsui (D-CA) announced that Rep. Matsui would join Rep. McCaul as a Co-Chair of the Congressional High Tech Caucus. A member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Communications and Technology and Environment and Economy Subcommittees, Rep. Matsui will join Rep. McCaul in helping to lead the Caucus in conversations with our nation's high tech leaders on innovation and job creation, research and development, broadband access, cyber security, clean energy investment, smart grid enhancement, online privacy, small business entrepreneurship and more.
As the representative of a community that is quickly becoming a clean technology hub, it is a privilege to join Rep. McCaul as a Co-Chair of this important and forward-thinking organization, Rep. Matsui said. During last night's State of the Union address, the President laid out national goals to enhance American innovation and ingenuity particularly in the technology sector to move our economy and our nation forward. It is critical that Congress provide the necessary tools to the tech community that enables the industry to grow, innovate, and create good paying jobs. Congressman McCaul has a proven track record in Congress as a leader on technology issues. I look forward to working together with him to address the complex issues before us and achieving our goals in a bipartisan way.
I am excited to welcome Congresswoman Matsui as our House Democratic Co-Chair of the Congressional High Tech Caucus, said Congressman McCaul. Through her extensive work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and her leadership in the technology and clean energy fields, she is sure to bring a fresh perspective to the leadership of the High Tech Caucus.
Created at the beginning of the 110th Congress, the Congressional High Tech Caucus is a bipartisan forum in which Members of Congress address the concerns vital to this important industry. The Caucus solicits briefings from industry leaders and experts as well as educators and government officials working on related issues. The Caucus gives industry leaders, university and private researchers and interested groups the ability to share their ideas, by promoting dialogue, to improve our high tech sector, expand job growth and enhance American competitiveness and innovation in the 21st Century global economy.
The Congressional High Tech Caucus is focused on working in a bipartisan fashion in order to explore policy solutions on the innovation economy including the following issues, among others:
- Job creation
