Congresswoman Matsui Announces $10,000 Federal Grant for La Raza Galeria Posada

Federal Grant Will Provide Funding Latin Jazz by the River

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) announced $10,000 in federal funding for La Raza Galeria Posada. This grant will enable the local Sacramento cultural center to support their Latin Jazz by the River program, a residency with Latin Jazz artist John Santos and the JS Sextet.

"I am pleased that La Raza Galeria Posada has received funding to support their Latin Jazz by the River program," said Congresswoman Matsui. "For over four decades, La Raza Galeria Posada has provided a place for our community to gather and has worked to share and preserve the history of Chicano, Latino and Native populations through art, music and cultural activities. This is wonderful news and will allow them to further their mission of celebrating and advancing these cultures."

Funding was made available through the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Challenge America Fast Track Grant. This round of NEA funding supports primarily small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability. Projects include exhibits, workshops, performances, public murals, festivals, training programs and cultural tourism, among others.
