Congresswoman Matsui Attends Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting of BT Collins High Tech Training Center
Helped Facilitate Construction of New Building with $6.8 Million in Federal Funding

CA
Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) joined local elected officials, community members, and military personnel to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the BT Collins High Tech Training Center. Located at the BT Collins Army Reserve Center on the former grounds of the Sacramento Army Depot, the High Tech Training Center will offer courses on radio operations and maintenance, satellite operations and maintenance, and signal support skills.

The opening of this new center has been made possible in part by $6.8 million in Federal funding secured by Congresswoman Matsui, which not only helped finance construction, but also helped open the Center three years ahead of schedule.

The men and women that serve in our military deserve nothing but the best training and equipment, stated Congresswoman Matsui. The new BT Collins High Tech Training Center is a major step forward in ensuring our soldiers get the training they need to keep critical lines of communication open to leaders in and out of the field. I am pleased to have helped secure almost $7 million in Federal funding to open this facility and look forward to celebrating this important occasion.

The High Tech Training Center will enable soldiers to complete courses in 13 weeks, as opposed to over six months, saving the army critical time and saving the federal government money. Soldiers coming from this training center will learn to be a part of an overall communications network the Department of Defense employs to make sure all units are communicating with one another and timely information is being transmitted, helping to protect lives in the field.
