Congresswoman Matsui, City Leaders Celebrate Grand Opening Ceremony of Fire Station 43 in Natomas
CA On Saturday, September 17th, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05), participated in the grand opening ceremony of the Sacramento Fire Department's Station 43, located in Natomas. Congresswoman Matsui was joined by Mayor Kevin Johnson, Sacramento Fire Chief Ray Jones, and other City leaders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony; Saturday s ceremony represented the collaborative work of these leaders to protect the residents of Natomas.
The last time we were here, response times in Natomas were unacceptably high, often twice as long as the city average, Congresswoman Matsui said at the event. Now, Natomas residents have the protection they need and deserve. Fire crews are out the door within seconds of a call coming in and can be on-site within minutes. Each fire fighter that works out of Station 43 is committed to saving any and every member of our community.
Having attended the groundbreaking a year and a half ago, Congresswoman Matsui was excited to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony that signified the opening of the new station. The new Natomas location is just one part of the Congresswoman's efforts to make this Sacramento community a safer place to live. She will continue her commitment to Natomas residents and support efforts for finishing the levee project and providing affordable flood insurance.
We are all equally committed to safety the 100,000 people that call Natomas home. And we are working hard to provide SAFCA and the Army Corps of Engineers with the resources to finish the levee repairs, remove the building moratorium and keep flood insurance rates low, said Congresswoman Matsui. Whether it is this fire station or the levee improvements, your tax dollars are being put to good use.
