Congresswoman Matsui Hosts Seniors Telephone Town Hall
CA Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) hosted a Seniors Telephone Town Hall to hear from her constituents on such topics as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and the proposed changes to these programs in the House-passed budget plan.
In recent weeks, there has been significant debate in Congress about the future of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. The House-passed budget plan would make drastic changes to these programs, and I have voiced my concerns about the impact these changes would have on seniors and their families, said Congresswoman Matsui. I have heard from many of my constituents who are wondering how these changes would affect their ability to pay their bills, see their doctors, and get the care they need. Today's Telephone Town Hall was another way to have an open, frank discussion about the proposal, and to answer questions about how these proposals would affect Sacramento seniors and families.
During the one hour Telephone Town Hall, from 10:30am to 11:30am, Congresswoman Matsui heard from a number of constituents on issues ranging from Medicare and Medicaid to the economy. In total, 16,747 constituents participated in the call.
