CA Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) joined local AmeriCorps volunteers at the Sacramento Food Bank to honor their commitment to improving and strengthening our local community. Rep. Matsui was honored to serve as an AmeriCorps Member for a Day and recognize the important work that AmeriCorps volunteers do by presenting them with a copy of the House Resolution that Rep. Matsui introduced on their behalf. H.Res. 1338 passed the House Thursday with bi-partisan support, and commemorates the goals and ideals of AmeriCorps Week 2010, which is celebrated through this Saturday, May 15th.
As a Co-Chair of the National Service Caucus in Congress, it is a pleasure to call attention to the tremendous work of those involved in service at every level and in every AmeriCorps program, said Rep. Matsui. AmeriCorps Week 2010 offers us an opportunity to honor the important work of AmeriCorps volunteers in our own districts and in every corner of America. I would like to thank all of our local AmeriCorps volunteers for their continued commitment to improving our community - one neighborhood at a time.
