Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA 05) recognized the importance of Father's Day by releasing the following statement:

On Father's Day, we take time to honor the fathers who act as role models and pillars of strength to their families. It is a time to recognize the effort and care that so many fathers put forth so that their children and families, can grow to be stronger.

During the recent economic crisis, the support of family has become more important than ever. This Sunday, as we celebrate Father's Day, I hope we all take the opportunity to celebrate the vital role that fathers play in all lives, and our community. I know that as I celebrate with my son and his family, I will also be thinking of the many fathers overseas helping to protect our nation, and honoring their heroism and commitment to our country.
