Congresswoman Matsui Recognizes Labor Day by Calling for Job Creation Measures
CA Ahead of Labor Day 2011, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05) released the following statement:
Each year, we honor the men and women of America's workforce as we celebrate Labor Day.
Unfortunately, there are still millions of Americans who are looking for work. For far too many people the recession has not ended, as they are either unemployed or underemployed. Too many families are struggling to survive on a single paycheck; too many workers are finding the dignity that comes with a job, a steady paycheck, and a fair wage out of reach.
That is why job creation must be the number one focus of this Congress, of the newly-formed Super Committee , and of this Administration. I go to work each day focused on helping get our economy back on track, restoring the manufacturing base in this country, and providing job training opportunities for our local workforce. And I will not stop until Sacramentans are given the job opportunities they deserve.
As we celebrate Labor Day, I urge all Members of Congress to commit to making job creation their top priority for the months to come, and I urge all Americans to recommit ourselves to work together to support America's working families.
