Congresswoman Matsui Recognizes Veteran's Day and Service of American Troops

CA On the eve of Veterans Day 2010, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05) released the following statement:

On Veterans Day we honor those who have served our country and express our thanks to those soldiers who continue to serve at home and overseas. We are eternally grateful to them for the sacrifices they make in order to protect our nation. Our soldiers have done a great deal to keep our country safe and secure, and it is our responsibility to make sure they have the care they need and the assistance they deserve.

That is why I recently worked to pass a series of bills designed to improve veteran benefits. These measures will create veteran job training programs and facilitate access to housing, helping to keep veterans employed and in a home of their own. I also helped to increase funding to assist homeless veterans, and this year Sacramento received $650,000 in federal funding for the Veteran's Affairs Urban Housing Program.

And I am committed to continuing to advocate for support for our troops and our veterans for the years to come. Especially in a time of war, it is our duty to protect those in the line of duty and advocate for the highest quality of life possible upon their return home.
