Congresswoman Matsui Statement on Administration's Release of Accountable Care Organization Regulations

Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-5) issued the following statement today following the Obama Administration's release of the interim regulatory guidelines for Accountable Care Organizations, as created by last year's landmark Affordable Care Act, which will now be open for public review and comment through June 6, 2011:

I am pleased to see that the process of implementing the Accountable Care Organizations is moving forward. I will be closely examining these regulations in the coming days and will be working closely with stakeholders in the Sacramento region, and my colleagues in Congress, as we review these and provide feedback to help improve them.

Accountable Care Organizations are a critical component of the Affordable Care Act because it rewards doctors based on the quality of care they provide; not just the quantity of care they provide. Families, seniors, and business owners are already seeing the benefits of the health care law, and its continued implementation will help us achieve the highest quality of care possible at the lowest possible cost.
