Congresswoman Matsui Statement on the Drop in Unemployment in Sacramento County

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement after the California Employment Development Department released unemployment rate figures for April 2013 that indicated the unemployment rate for Sacramento County is at 8.3 percent, down from 9.2 percent in March and the lowest it has been since November, 2008:

"Today's unemployment numbers from the Employment Development Department reinforce what we already knew; we are on a path to recovery. Our region is steadily creating jobs, and we are restoring the security the middle class lost during the Great Recession.

"Clearly, while we have seen progress, much much more work must be done to expand our economy and put people back to work. Too many Sacramentans are still struggling to find work, secure a paycheck, and provide for their families. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass significant initiatives that support small businesses, promote job growth, and bolster our economy."
