Congresswoman Matsui Statement on Governor Brown's Declaration of a Drought Emergency in California
CA - Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement in response to Governor Jerry Brown's declaration today of a drought emergency in California:
"With the Governor's official declaration of a drought in California we now have additional tools at our disposal to deal with these unprecedented conditions. Governor Brown is no stranger to the issue of drought and I believe that he can steer our state forward in the best way possible. The situation is dire for some communities who have water supplies near their historic lows.
"Although this situation is challenging, it will hopefully bring positive change to California's outdated water system. The change many of us are looking for is for the entire state to have reliable water and environmental protection, including communities north of the Delta that are experiencing critical shortages."
