Congresswoman Matsui Statement on Veterans Day

CA - Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05), released the following statement in honor of Veterans Day:

"Today I join millions of Americans across the country in honoring the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. As a country, taking care of our veterans is a sacred duty that we must never turn from. Every day members of our armed forces put their lives on the line to protect our freedom at home and abroad. Veterans Day is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on their sacrifices and renew our commitment to our veterans.

"As our veterans return from combat, we must ensure they have the support they need here at home, which includes top-notch health care, counseling for service members in need, housing and, educational and job opportunities. These are promises we made to our service members as they went off to serve, and they are contracts that must be fulfilled. I have, and will continue to, support legislation that ensures all of our veterans have access to the benefits and services they were promised.

"On this Veterans Day, and in the days to come, we should honor our nation's veterans by thanking them for their service and sacrifice, and by ensuring we fulfill our promises to them."
