Congresswoman Matsui Comments on the third anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Rep. Doris Matsui (CA-05) released the following statement regarding the third anniversary of the Gulf Coast Hurricanes:"On the third anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we are reminded of the deadly force of Mother Nature. August 29, 2005 was a day that began the unimaginable suffering of thousands of families in the Gulf Coast area. This anniversary reminds us that living in a flood plain requires constant vigilance. My thoughts go out to the families that are still working to rebuild their communities and lives.""Much has been accomplished over the past three years since I first visited the devastated area immediately after the flood, but there is still work to be done. I hope we take today to renew our efforts to assist the families and businesses that were affected by the Hurricanes and to increase prevention and preparedness for those living in flood plains."###
