Congresswoman Matsui Visits Folsom Dam to Mark Flood Protection Milestones
Matsui's Visit Comes After Announcement of Significant Federal Funding Dedicated to Project
Sacramento, CA- Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) toured the Joint Federal Project (JFP) at Folsom Dam to review the advancements being made on the project as it nears completion ahead of schedule. The Congresswoman's visit comes after she announced on February 9 that the Folsom Dam JFP received over $25 million in combined federal funding within the President's FY2017 budget request and the FY2016 Army Corps of Engineers Work Plan.
At the Dam, the Congresswoman received an update on project specifics from Commander of the Sacramento office ofthe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Colonel Michael Farrell, along with David Thomas and Brandon Muncy of the Joint Federal Project office.
"Today I visited one of my top priorities, the JFP at Folsom Dam, and witnessed firsthand the significant progress being made," said Congresswoman Doris Matsui.
"Ultimately, the Joint Federal Project will more than double Sacramento's current level of flood protection, which means our residents will be safer and our region more secure. Last week, I announced an additional $25 million federal investment in this critical project. I'll continue to build on this progress and ensure Sacramento has the resources we need to make our entire flood protection infrastructure as strong as possible."
