Matsui Announces Additional Federal Funding for Sacramento Flood Protection in 2018 Omnibus

Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) announced that over $25 million in funding for Sacramento region flood protection was included in the 2018 omnibus appropriations legislation, including work to strengthen Natomas Basin levees and Folsom Dam. Congresswoman Matsui issued the following statement on the development:

"This is important progress in what needs to be an ongoing effort to bolster our region's flood protection. The funding levels reflected in this bill for several projects in Sacramento are consistent with what our region has been advocating for throughout the appropriations process. The legislation also provides the region with an opportunity to secure additional construction funding this year, which I will fight for. It's important that we keep up the momentum and continue to partner at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure Sacramento residents have the highest possible level of protection against the risk of floods."
