MATSUI SECURES OVER $13.5 MILLION FOR LOCAL PROJECTS IN GOVERNMENT FUNDING PACKAGE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07) voted to secure $13,576,383 in Community Project Funding for California’s 7th District. The House passed a package of six appropriations bills that includes federal dollars for projects which address some of the most pressing needs across the Sacramento region. This legislation will be signed into law by President Biden later this week.
“Today, the House passed a government funding package which includes critical investments in the Sacramento region,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “My team and I are constantly listening to our community to find places where we can deliver federal dollars and make a meaningful difference. I am proud to have secured over $13.5 million in Community Project Funding in this package. These are federal investments that will get money directly to our community, support the work of our local governments, strengthen our water infrastructure, and make our streets safer.”

Congresswoman Matsui championed funding for 15 projects that will directly benefit California’s 7th District residents.
Agriculture:
- $1,000,000 for the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District’s Harvest Water Project
- Harvest Water is a model multi-benefit water recycling, groundwater storage & conjunctive use program in collaboration with regional stakeholders. Harvest Water will provide a safe and reliable supply of tertiary-treated recycled water for agricultural uses, reduce groundwater pumping, restore groundwater, support habitat protection efforts, and provide near-term benefits to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
Commerce, Justice, Science:
- $715,000 for the City of Elk Grove’s Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program
- The funding will be used to add two domestic violence advocate prevention and intervention social workers to the Elk Grove Police Department.
Interior:
- $959,752 for the City of Sacramento’s Groundwater Well #169 Phase 1 Project
- Groundwater Well #169 Phase 1 is part of a larger "groundwater well rehabilitation" program that the City of Sacramento is undertaking which has identified 38 wells for rehabilitation. Groundwater Well #169 will produce approximately 1,250 million gallons of drinking water per minute when in full operation.
- $959,752 for the Sacramento Area Sewer District’s Hood Community Septic to Sewer Conversion Project
- This project will assist the Community of Hood to convert from on-site septic systems to public sewer with SASD as their local sewer system provider.
- $725,600 for Sacramento County’s Walnut Grove Water Supply Reliability Project
- This project will expand potable water service for domestic use as well as fire protection to the area of East Walnut Grove.
Transportation and Housing and Urban Development:
- $1,666,279 for the City of West Sacramento’s Sacramento Avenue Phase 1 Complete Streets Project
- This project will help underground utilities, fill in gaps to the pedestrian and bicyclist network, and transform the Sacramento Avenue corridor into a safe and inviting transitional gateway to the City’s northern neighborhoods.
- $1,500,000 for the City of Sacramento’s Sacramento River Docks Project
- The funding will be used for design and planning work for future improvements to the existing Sacramento River Docks system on the Old Sacramento Waterfront.
- $1,000,000 for the City of Elk Grove’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Municipal Infrastructure Project
- The funding will be used for capital infrastructure upgrades at City facilities to support the transition to electric vehicles.
- $1,000,000 for Sacramento Regional Transit’s Dos Rios Light Rail Station
- The funding will be used for the construction of the Dos Rios Light Rail Station. This project will create access to SacRT’s light rail system for thousands of new residents in the Twin Rivers housing redevelopment area.
- $850,000 for the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Station 46 Expansion
- Located in the City of Galt, this project will expand the existing apparatus bay from two bays to three, extend and upgrade the day room/kitchen area, move the exercise facilities from the apparatus bay to an enclosed area free of diesel exhaust, and upgrade the firefighter dorm to modern standards.
- $850,000 for Capital Public Radio
- This project would equip CapRadio with up-to-date production and operations equipment.
- $850,000 for the City of Sacramento’s Crate Building Community Center Renovation
- The funding will be used to convert and reuse an unfinished building into a multi-use community center. The Center is located adjacent to two underserved and under resourced public housing communities.
- $500,000 for the City of Elk Grove’s Bruceville Walkability Improvement Project
- The funding will be used for construction of a multi-use path and sidewalk to connect two parts of the City of Elk Grove’s master trail plain.
- $500,000 for the Sierra Health Foundation Center for Health Program Management’s Net Zero Mobility Hub Expansion Project
- The funding would be used to expand Net Zero Mobility Hubs to South Sacramento. These hubs address climate change and provide sustainable economic growth while improving the health and economic well-being of residents in disinvested communities through the use of zero emission vehicles (ZEV) and creative shared transportation.
- $500,000 for the City of Galt’s Walker Park Community Project
- The funding will be used towards the construction of Phase 2 of the Walker Park Master Plan, including three youth baseball fields in the town of Galt.
