MATSUI STATEMENT ON HUMANITARIAN PAUSE IN ISRAEL-HAMAS CONFLICT
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07) issued the following statement in support of the Biden Administration’s calls for a humanitarian pause in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
“On October 7th, Hamas launched a series of horrific terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “Israel continues to have every right to defend itself, dismantle Hamas, combat terrorism, and fight for the safe return of the hostages. At the same time, we must also focus on protecting the lives of innocent Palestinian civilians. They should not suffer for Hamas’ despicable actions. The scale of distress, loss of life, and loss of property is unacceptable. We have a moral obligation to prevent this violence from escalating, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and protect innocent lives. That is why I am calling for a humanitarian pause in the conflict. Doing so will help save civilian lives and allow real, substantial aid to get to the people who desperately need it.”
