Matsui Statement on the Passing of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter

Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) released the following statement on the tragic passing of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter:

"I'm heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend and mentor Louise. Louise represented her constituents with determination and strength. As the first and only female Chair of the House Rules Committee, she was an inspiration to so many women in Congress, setting a gold standard for future generations of lawmakers. Louise's wonderful sense of humor and kind heart touched every person who knew her. My thoughts are with her three daughters, her entire family, her past and present staff, and all of her loved ones during this difficult time."
