MATSUI STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DON FADO

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07) issued the following statement after the passing of Reverend Don Fado. 

“We have lost a powerful voice for justice and compassion with the passing of my friend Reverend Don Fado,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “Throughout his decades of ministry, Don embodied the true spirit of service—standing with the marginalized and living his faith through action. His commitment to LGBTQ+ rights and social justice reflected his dedication to ensuring that love and dignity knew no bounds. In retirement, he poured his heart into the Sacramento community—feeding the hungry, sheltering the unhoused, and making sure everyone felt they belonged. Don leaves behind a legacy rooted in courage, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to the greater good. My prayers are with Jean, their children, and all of Don’s loved ones during this difficult time.”
