MATSUI STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07) issued the following statement after the passing of former President Jimmy Carter.

“President Jimmy Carter was an extraordinary American and a beacon of light for democracy and human rights across the world,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “His life represents what we strive to be as Americans—kind, charitable, and hard-working. As President, he fought to protect the environment, extend health care for children and families, and seek peace and diplomacy across the world. In the decades since, he transformed countless lives fighting disease, housing the homeless, and advancing civil and human rights. President Carter truly lived a life of service. A life of leadership through compassion and moral clarity. A life of uplifting and empowering the most underserved among us by enabling them to harness their strength and courage. He undeniably made the world a better place than he found it—and we are all forever grateful.”
