MATSUI STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07),issued the following statement on President Biden’s State of the Union address.

“Tonight, President Biden outlined his unifying vision for the nation, laser-focused on delivering for the American people. Over the past two years, Congress has worked in tandem with President Biden to jumpstart historic economic growth – building from the bottom up and middle out and investing in the power of American workers.

“From the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to the CHIPS and Science Act and Inflation Reduction Act – we have made historic progress. These generational pieces of legislation have lowered health care costs, delivered the largest climate investment in our nation’s history, and made crucial investments to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and secure our technological future. Yet the President’s message was clear: we need to finish the job.

“I am committed to building on this progress – through my leadership on technology policy, by pushing an aggressive climate agenda, and improving access to health care for those who need it most. I will continue to spearhead critical policy solutions like the CHIPS Act, that invest in American workers and ensure the United States stays the gold standard for innovation. I will work to find common ground but fiercely stand up for the policies that make a real difference for our families and neighbors. 

“President Biden reminded us that the American story is rooted in progress and resilience. He implored us to put people over politics and put our faith in the American people. Now, it is our job to move the policy solutions forward and deliver.”
