Matsui Statement on President Trump's Misguided Reference to 340B Program in Prescription Drug Plan

Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement on President Trump's misguided reference to the 340B Program in the Administration's prescription drug plan released today:

"The Trump Administration's efforts to connect high prescription drug prices to the 340B program are misguided and based on inaccurate assumptions.

"The cuts in payments to safety net hospitals mentioned in this plan will not achieve the goal of reducing drug prices, and do nothing to get at the real driver of high drug costs."

"Hospitals and clinics that receive savings through the 340B program use those savings to stretch scarce resources and provide benefits to their patients and communities. These safety net providers offer meaningful care to low-income and vulnerable patients, and the program allows them to continue to do so."
