MATSUI STATEMENT ON VOTE TO AVOID GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07), issued the following statement after the House passed a government funding bill to prevent a shutdown.
“Today, I voted to prevent a devastating shutdown and keep the government funded,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “This is a victory for the American people. This package contains a one-year farm bill extension, necessary health extenders, as well as $110 billion in disaster relief. And importantly, no debt ceiling lift to give Donald Trump a blank check in the new year. Government shutdowns have real consequences for everyday Americans, working families, seniors, and veterans. That’s why despite the chaos caused by my Republican colleagues, House Democrats have stepped up to deliver for the American people and keep critical programs up and running.”
