Matsui's Second Telephone Town Hall on Health Care Draws Almost 10,000 ParticipantsOver 20,000 Sacramentans Take Part In Recent Conversations with Rep. Matsui About Comprehensive Health Care Legislation; Voice Strong Support for Health Insurance Reform
CA - Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (D-Sacramento) was joined last night by 9,874 Sacramentans on her second Telephone Town Hall Meeting of the month to discuss H.R. 3200, the America's Affordable Health Choices Act, and to give her constituents an update on the health insurance reform efforts in Congress.
"The telephone town halls I have held over recent weeks have been extremely productive. It is invaluable for me to hear from my constituents about their strong support for health insurance reform, but also to hear their concerns, answer their questions, and to facilitate a forum for my constituents to share their thoughts with me," said Representative Matsui. "I look forward to continuing this dialogue as we move toward our goal of achieving the quality, affordable health care for Sacramento families that they need and deserve."
In addition to answering questions from eighteen constituents in neighborhoods throughout her district, Congresswoman Matsui also asked each caller to share their thoughts on health care reform with her. The Congresswoman surveyed all of the participants to gauge their support for health insurance reform. The support for action was clear: 71% percent were in support, 17% were undecided or felt they needed more information, and 12% were opposed.
"Many of you have shared your personal stories with me over the last several months: stories of loss - of hope - and your ideas about how we can create a better health care system," Matsui said during the event. "I have also been able to talk with many of you and answer your questions about how the current proposals would affect you and your family, and how they would affect our community. I appreciate all of your feedback, ideas, and insights on this bill. We are making great strides toward creating legislation that will provide quality, affordable health care for all Sacramentans."
