Rep. Doris Matsui Announces $12 million in Energy Efficient Grants for Sacramento

Recovery Funds Promote Local Energy Efficient Construction and Improvements

The Energy and Environmental Block Grant program assists local and state governments in development and implementation of a comprehensive energy efficiency strategy which emphasizes a bottom-up, community-based approach in helping the nation meet its energy and climate protection goals. Funding supports energy audits and energy efficiency retrofits in residential and commercial buildings, the development and implementation of advanced building codes and inspections, and the creation of financial incentive programs for energy efficiency improvements.

"Today's announcement of federal funding for energy efficiency and conservation projects will give local governments the flexibility in implementing strategies to reduce fossil fuel emissions, total energy use, and improve energy efficiency in all sectors," said Congresswoman Matsui. "The release of these funds by the Department of Energy will help accelerate efforts to protect our climate, strengthen our economy and create jobs through sustained community-based solutions in Sacramento."

The Sacramento Region is expected to receive $11,886,900 in funding through the program, which will be distributed by the Department of Energy. Specific funding allocations are listed below:
