Rep. Doris Matsui Announces Small Business Opportunities WorkshopEvent Will Help Sacramento Businesses Benefit from Federal Grants and Newly Announced Recovery Act Funds
CA - In order to assist local small businesses in tough economic times, Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (D-Sacramento) announced that she will be hosting a Small Business Opportunities Workshop for local businesses on Tuesday, June 30th at the Sacramento State Alumni Center. The workshop's objective is to help small business owners learn more about the resources available to them, including newly announced funds made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), and understand how to contract with the federal government.
"Small businesses are the heart of the Sacramento economy," said Representative Matsui. "We rely on small businesses to create jobs, develop innovative products, and provide necessary services. Our region's economic vitality hinges on their success, and I am pleased to host this Small Business Opportunities Workshop to provide local businesses with the resources they need to take advantage of the federal funds coming into the Sacramento region."
The morning workshop will cover topics such as:

andbull; Understanding How the Stimulus Bill Affects Small Businesses
andbull; How to Become Certified by the Federal Government
andbull; How to Contract with Federal Agencies
andbull; How to Access Business Counseling Resources
The event will include presentations from representatives of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), U.S. Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) and The Federal Technology Center (FTC). Representatives from the General Services Administration (GSA) and Veteran Affairs Northern California Health Care System (VA-NCHCS) will also give presentations on how they, as government agencies, work with small businesses. A representative from the Department of Labor (DOL) will also give a presentation on their Green Jobs initiative and business employment related programs.
