Rep. Doris Matsui Applauds White House Budget Proposal
Says Budget is Responsible, Takes Decisive Action to Meet Nation's Challenges
Representative Doris Matsui (CA - 05) issued the following statement today after President Obama released his budget outline for Fiscal Year 2010:
"
"The Obama Administration's budget will help Sacramento's working families by increasing access to affordable healthcare and investing in public schools. I support the prioritization of education and healthcare today, so that our children and grandchildren can have a healthy and prosperous tomorrow.
"This budget outlines clean energy initiatives and smartgrid technologies, and provides funds to modernize and enhance energy efficiency and reliability, bringing down the cost of energy for consumers and local businesses. It also provides a blueprint to move toward a clean energy economy, which will create green jobs and spur economic growth throughout California.
"This outline also gives us an assessment of our current economic situation. It does not hide costs. I commend the President for outlining how he will pay for our country's top initiatives, including his tax cut for 95 percent of American workers.
"President Obama's plan also slices the deficit by more than half in four years, without overriding the need to stimulate the economy in the short-term, and making the crucial investments we need for the long-term.
"I look forward to working with President Obama and my colleagues in Congress as we take decisive action to put America's economy on track and deliver real assistance for Sacramento families."
