Several Hundred Constituents Participate In Health Care Forum
CA - Earlier today, Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-05) participated in a forum in which several hundred of her constituents turned out to discuss Congress' plans for health insurance reform. Congresswoman Matsui's event, which took place at Sutter Middle School, drew participants from across the Sacramento community.
"I am honored that so many Sacramento families were able to join me here today" Congresswoman Matsui stated. "The bills being considered in the House of Representatives will help all Americans from seniors, to the uninsured, to the middle class family struggling to make ends meet. I will continue to advocate for a bill that provides Sacramentans high-quality choices, brings down the overall cost of health care, and delivers better outcomes for patients."
The Congresswoman's main room filled to capacity with nearly 500 people, and a second room was used to hold the additional participants who were able to watch the Congresswoman live, and ask questions in the same manner as those in the main event. Constituents were offered cards on which they could submit their name and neighborhood, to be drawn at random, if they were inclined to ask a question. Congresswoman Matsui fielded questions from dozens of constituents in all matters related to health insurance reform.
Congresswoman Matsui reiterated her steadfast support for legislation that will ensure affordable access to quality care for Sacramento families: "It is time to make health care work for hard-working Sacramentans."
