Rep. Matsui Applauds FCC Vote and Calls for Creation of Spectrum Pipeline

Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) released the following statement after the Federal Communications Commission voted today to approve rules for the upcoming incentive auction and on items to promote competition and public safety in the IP transition:

"Today the FCC took key steps to keep the incentive auction on track to free up more licensed and unlicensed spectrum, to promote competition, and to protect public safety. These are important decisions but there's much more work to be done. In particular, we need a plan to create a spectrum pipeline for the next decade. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues in Congress, at the FCC and the federal agencies to ensure we have the spectrum resources to keep our wireless economy growing."

In March 2015, Congresswoman Matsui and Congressman Brett Guthrie (R-KY) introduced H.R. 1641 the Federal Spectrum Incentive Act, which would provide financial incentives to encourage government agencies to relocate from their existing spectrum bands in order to free up additional spectrum for commercial and innovation purposes.
