Rep. Matsui Joins Army Corps to Launch Federal Natomas Levee Construction
Sacramento, CA Today Congresswoman Doris Matsui convened leaders from the Department of the Army, State of California and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency at Discovery Park to sign a partnership agreement for federal levee construction in Natomas.
In February, Congresswoman Matsui announced $11 million for the Army Corps to begin construction in Natomas in Fiscal Year 2016, as part of $32 million in federal funding commitments for Natomas levees. Signing the project partnership agreement today was the next step to putting that funding into action.
"With this step, we begin the federal investment in a critical piece of Natomas' flood protection," said Congresswoman Doris Matsui. "The Army Corps of Engineers signing on as our partners means that the residents of Natomas are a step closer to having one of the strongest levees in the region. I look forward to continuing our strong local and federal partnership as we work together on the protection Natomas needs and deserves."
