Rep. Matsui Statement on Proposed Merger of ATandamp;T and T-Mobile USA

Today, Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (D-CA), a Member of the Energy and Commerce Communications and Technology Subcommittee, released the following statement about the announced intention of ATandamp;T to buy T-Mobile USA:

"The proposed merger between ATandamp;T and T-Mobile would have a significant impact on both our economy and consumers. It is therefore appropriate and necessary for Congress, the Department of Justice, and the Federal Communications Commission to thoroughly examine the possible effects on competition and consumer choice in the marketplace. I look forward to hearing from each of the stakeholders in the coming weeks and months as we examine this proposed transaction."
