Representative Matsui Celebrates SCOTUS Decision in King v. Burwell

In response to the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Affordable Care Act subsidies in King v. Burwell, Congresswoman Doris Matsui made the following statement:

"Today's ruling is a win for all Americans. It is clear that the Affordable Care Act is working, and we can now rest assured that the ACA will continue working."

As a member of the House Energy andamp; Commerce Committee and a former member of the House Committee on Rules, Congresswoman Matsui helped author the Affordable Care Act and foster the law through passage. Rep. Matsui has been a strong supporter of the Affordable Care Act since it became law in 2010.

The 6-3 ruling ensures that subsidies are available in both state and federal health care exchanges, securing continued access to affordable health care for millions of Americans. A particularly strong win for health reform, the decision guarantees that the provision of subsidies in state-based health exchanges cannot be changed by the next presidential administration. This is the second time in three years that the Supreme Court has upheld key provisions in the Affordable Care Act.
