Updated Information for U.S. Citizens in Egypt

CA Today, following continued mass protests and political unrest in Egypt, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) released updated information for constituents or their families who may be in Egypt. If you or someone you know in Egypt needs assistance, here are some important resources that you can use:

If you are currently traveling in Egypt and need assistance returning to the U.S., you can contact my office at 001-916-498-5600. A caseworker can help you and your family work with the federal government to get you out of the country.

The Department of State is making arrangements for U.S. citizens who wish to depart Egypt for safe haven locations in Europe. This assistance will be provided on a reimbursable basis, as required by U.S. law.

U.S. citizens currently in Egypt can contact the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Cairo at: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_5257.html or by calling 001-202-501-4444 (for callers outside the U.S.).

Family members can also e-mail inquiries to the State Department at EgyptEmergencyUSC@state.govThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or call the State Department toll free at 1-888-407-4747 from the U.S. or Canada.

Because things could change very quickly and at any time, please continue to check the Department of State's travel website at http://travel.state.gov

For more information about how the federal government can help you or someone you know, please visit Congresswoman Matsui's website. As always, the Congresswoman's office is available to assist her constituents or their families with any issue involving a federal agency.
