Matsui Announces Over $1 million in Federal Grant Funding for Local Transit Improvements

Sacramento, CA Congresswoman Matsui (D-CA) today announced $1.2 million in federal grant funding from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to go towards Sacramento Regional Transit's replacement and maintenance of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling equipment for their bus fleet.

"Ensuring that equipment is up-to-date is critical to the efficiency and safety of our public transportation systems in Sacramento," said Congresswoman Matsui. "I'm pleased that with this grant, SacRT will continue to be able to serve the 442,000 riders who use their systems on a weekly basis with a reliable transportation option. I thank Henry Li for his leadership and congratulate the entire SacRT team on this important award for our region."

"SacRT is pleased to be awarded a $1.2 million federal grant from the Department of Transportation. This grant award will significantly help SacRT's operational efficiency and overall system safety. The funding will go towards replacing aging infrastructure that includes the replacement of compressors at our Bus Maintenance Facility, and help increase the efficiency of our public transit operations," said Henry Li, Sacramento Regional Transit District General Manager/CEO. "I would like to thank Congresswoman Matsui for her tireless work on behalf of the Sacramento community and public transit nationwide."

In total, Sacramento Regional Transit received $1,206,518.00 for the Bus Maintenance Facility CNG Fueling Equipment Replacement project from the DOT.
