MATSUI APPLAUDS SUCCESSFUL COMMITTEE PASSAGE OF THE BUILD BACK BETTER AGENDA

September 15, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce Committee successfully passed its provisions of the Build Back Better Act.

"Today, the Energy and Commerce Committee moved forward on a monumental piece of legislation to build an America that works for us all. By passing President Biden's Build Back Better Agenda, we are delivering on our promises to make crucial investments in our nation's health, combat the climate crisis, and give American innovators the tools to lift our economy.

"I worked hard to include vital funding and policies in this package that will create new opportunity for American workers and families. I am proud that the legislation makes a historic investment to expand access to quality home-based services and care for millions of older adults and people with disabilities. It also includes an important expansion of dental, vision, and hearing coverage for seniors under Medicare. And, the legislation provides robust funding to lower carbon emissions, combat the climate crisis, and provide clean air for all. It makes substantial investments in electric vehicles and clean transportation and creates a Clean Electricity Performance Program to help us meet our climate goals.

"This is a critical moment in our nation's history, and we have the opportunity to make transformative investments in our kids, our grandkids, and American families. Now is the time to Build Back Better and provide a blueprint for our nation's future."
