MATSUI STATEMENT ON CALIFORNIA’S PLAN TO ACHIEVE 100% ZERO-EMISSION VEHICLE SALES BY 2035

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement on the California Air Resources Board (CARB) decision that will require all new cars sold in California to be zero-emission by 2035.
“The facts are clear – the transportation sector is our nation’s leading source of carbon pollution,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “That means that we need unified, decisive action to spur on innovation and promote the deployment of clean vehicle technologies. Today’s vote solidifies our state’s commitment to decarbonization and sets a bold agenda to meet our climate goals. In California, we continue to set the gold standard for lowering emissions and investing in clean energy and sustainable technology. We have made sure that we work at all levels of government to mitigate the effects of climate change and improve the air we breathe, but all through a lens of equity and inclusion. I am proud to have fought hard to get our Clean Air Act waiver reinstated, allowing California to remain the national leader in the fight against the climate crisis. I’m looking forward to building on this progress to secure a healthier planet for future generations.”
