In response to comments by President-Elect Trump supporter Carl Higbie citing World War II Japanese internment camps as precedent for a potential immigrant registry, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement:
"This type of rhetoric by Mr. Higbie is outrageous, unacceptable, and reckless. The unjust internment of Japanese Americans during World War II was a painful period during our history, but we have taken great strides as a country to heal those wounds and move forward.
Declare Sacramento a demonstration city for innovative technology
Sacramento, Calif - Today Sacramento leaders announced a new coalition with a mission of bringing autonomous vehicle testing to the city. The coalition is inviting all autonomous vehicle manufacturers and the industries that support them to use Sacramento as its open-source platform for level 5 autonomous vehicles.
Today the House of Representatives passed S. 2873, the counterpart to H.R. 5395, the Expanding Capacity for Health Outcomes Act, or the ECHO Act, introduced by Congressman Michael C. Burgess M.D. (R-TX) and Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) in the House of Representatives. The Senate unanimously passed S. 2873 last week, introduced by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI). It will now go to the President's desk for signature.
Princess Cruise Lines Will Pay Criminal Penalty for Intentional Pollution
Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) praised the Department of Justice's (DOJ) announcement that Princess Cruise Lines Ltd. has agreed to plead guilty to felony charges resulting from their intentional actions to pollute the ocean by illegally dumping oil contaminated waste. "Princess Cruise Lines' intentional cover-up of their environmental recklessness is disgraceful and indicative of a troublesome industry culture," said Congresswoman Matsui.
Today, the Energy andamp; Commerce Committee unanimously passed H.R. 1877, the Mental Health First Aid Act.
