Today, House Democrats, led by the Seniors Task Force, the Democratic Women's Working Group, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-NY), and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi marked the 52nd anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid with an anniversary party in the U.S. Capitol. The Medicare and Medicaid programs were created on July 30th, 1965 when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Social Security Act into law.

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement after the California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved Volkswagen's California Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Investment Plan that will bring $44 million to the City of Sacramento to support ZEV infrastructure:
"Today's vote to approve Electrify America's proposal to designate the City of Sacramento as its first Green City is outstanding news for the region. The funding will benefit disadvantaged communities, improve our air, and position Sacramento as a smart city of the future.
